Mount Fuji Opening Times and Season
5th Station Road Season
The Subaru Line up to the 5th Station is usually open from mid April to early December. In winter the road closes from snow, so tours pivot to the lakes and Hakone, which still offer superb Fuji views. Always check seasonal status before booking a 5th Station tour.
Climbing Season
If you want to climb to the summit, the official season runs early July to early September, when trails and mountain huts are open. Outside that window the climb is for experienced alpinists only. Day trippers do not climb, they reach the 5th Station by road.
Best Hours for a Clear View
Early morning is almost always clearest, before clouds build over the peak. Late afternoon can clear again as the air cools. Midday in summer is the worst for cloud cover. Start your day trip early to improve your odds of a clear Fuji.
